Join us for the David Watson Trio at 4:30 p.m July 2 in the Upcycle showroom at 3945 Main St. This fearless scatter grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 8 when he heard Ella Fitzgerald, which changed his life. By 10, David had begun developing scatting skills. David later landed a bartending job at the Showboat Jazz Theater and was encouraged by bassist Walter Booker, playing with Sonny Rollins and Cannonball, to pursue his love of singing. David is influenced by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Williams, Jon Hendricks, and Eddie Jefferson, among others. "I want to sing jazz the rest of my life until I can’t do it any longer. As long as I love the music, I have no plans to stop!”
