Why Play Piano?

The Thomas Brawner family of Kansas City purchased a Chickering grand piano from Upcycle Piano Craft in spring. "It's in our living room, which gets a lot of traffic in the house and leads to a lot of opportunity" to play it, Browner said. One of his two children has been taking lessons for three years, and the younger one just started. "We have collectively become more musical as a family with the piano at the center of our social space, and our daughter (Avery Brawner, above) has really embraced the instrument as an artistic outlet, through improvising and writing her own music" in addition to formal lessons.
