Don't miss Lucy Wijnands on March 4

Lucy Wijnands with father Bram Wijnands.

By the time she blew out the candles for her recent 27th birthday, Lucy Wijnands had toured the world, completed a 16-week residency singing with the world-famous Birdland Big Band, become a regular at Manhattan’s Mezzrow and other jazz clubs, won the prestigious Ella Fitzgerald competition, and picked up a degree in jazz studies from SUNY Purchase’s Conservatory of Music, graduating as an Ella Fitzgerald scholar and President’s Award recipient.

Lucy Wijnands has shared the stage with Jon Faddis, Ron Carter, Joe Magnarelli, Peter Washington, Johnny O'Neal, Pasquale Grasso, Emmet Cohen, Omer Avital, Paquito D'Rivera, Houston Person, and more. “Lucy has it,” writes JazzLives in 2023, “something not easy to define in words, but the innate ability to marry notes and words to convey emotion with a down-to-earth authenticity.”

Join us March 4 for a special Happy Hour at Upcycle Piano, 3945 Main St., Kansas City, when Lucy Wijnands is joined on piano by her father, Bram Wijnands.

Happy Hour begins at 4:30, with Tim Whitmer as host.
