Since 1991, Sons of Brasil has filled many a venue with fans, serving up music with the flavor and passion found at clubs in Ipanema and Leblon. This group of Kansas Citians includes some of the area's premier musicians. On the August 6 bill at the Upcycle Happy Hour, which begins at 4:30 p.m.: Roger Wilder, Greg Whitfield, Doug Auwarter, and Stan Kessler. The Sons invite you to sample its sounds, which stem from their love and admiration of “musica bem brasileira.”

Trumpeter, educator, and clinician Stan Kessler leads Sons of Brasil. Originals from Kessler and members of the band are important parts of the repertoire, as well as Brazilian classics from Antonio Carlos Jobim and other greats.

The Sons proves that a Midwestern group, playing a host of exciting Brazilian-flavored music, can be authentic and successful with spicy sambas and cushy bossa nova music tailor-made for lovers of the genre.
